4 | VERY WARM WELCOME to Walzl Lans Gerhard Jennewein, his wife Petra and their two sons Johannes and Paul – introducing the Jennewein family from DER WALZL LANS. Gerhard and his lovely wife are the second generation of the family to hold the destiny of the WALZL in their hands – combining the best of the tradition with modernity and warmth. Gerhard is the visionary who turns his visions into reality. With a keen eye for detail and warmth of heart, it’s Petra who does the day- to-day fine tuning, without ever neglecting the importance of visual aesthetics. GERHARD JENNEWEIN RELATES THE HISTORY AND TRADITION OF THE WALZL: This country inn was built in 1965 by my parents as a small coffee house. Alongside the hotel, they also ran a farm. In 1975, the café was extended and renamed the “Gasthof Pension”. In 2000, I took over the family business with my wife Petra and have since then renovated and expanded the hotel on several occasions (examples include the construction of the play park and the guest garden etc.). The most ambitious of these renovations took place in autumn 2016. What you now have are: 26 modern and comfortable rooms to enhan- ce the well-being of our guests, a redesigned ballroom, café & dining rooms, conservatory, all of which present the hotel in a completely new light. BUT THAT’S NOT ALL In 2021 a lot more went on besides After lockdowns 1, 2 and 3, there was not only the prospect of the next holiday season, but also another rebuild – and a really major one this time – with many unique elements. “It was quite clear to us: we weren’t going to squander the quiet weeks! I sat down with my wife and sons, and together we decided to turn the Landgasthof WALZL country hotel into the WALZL wellness and luxury hotel.” PETRA JENNEWEIN ADDS FULL OF ANTICIPATION: “We didn’t sit back and let the quiet weeks pass idly by: we worked with a team of architects and interior designers to make some changes.”
